Groups
The Groups page, under Administration → Access Control → Groups, lets you assign a role to a group so that everyone in the group inherits that role, and lets you designate VIP groups. Managing access by group gives many people the same access at once. A user's effective role reflects the role of every group they belong to.
Note: Groups themselves are not created or deleted on this page. The set of groups comes from your organization's directory; this page is where you assign each group a role and VIP status.
Prerequisites
- The User Admin role or higher.
View the group list
The table lists your groups:
Column | What it shows |
Group Name | The name of the group. |
Group Role | The role assigned to the group. |
Actions | Row actions, including the VIP control. |
Assign a role to a group
- Find the group in the list.
- Set its Group Role.
Every member of the group inherits this role. If a member belongs to more than one group, or also has a role assigned directly, their effective role is the highest-privilege role among them.
View a group's members
Select a group's row to open a detail panel showing its Group Role, the VIP control, and a Members table listing each member's User (name and email) and Effective Role.
Mark a group as VIP
Use the crown control in the group's row to mark the group as a VIP group. Activity by members of a VIP group is restricted so that only roles with VIP visibility can see it.
Note: Only the Super Admin role can grant the ability to view VIP data.
Verify
After setting a group's role, the Group Role column for that group updates to show the new role.
After toggling VIP status, the crown control label in the group's row changes: a group you marked as VIP shows Remove VIP; one you removed from VIP shows Make VIP.
